Vendor materials include claims about long-term uptime, low delivery latency, and high connection counts. These claims require scrutiny:
Ably is a managed realtime infrastructure platform that provides APIs and SDKs for publish/subscribe messaging and related realtime building blocks (for example, chat, presence, message history/replay, and state synchronization). The platform is intended to reduce the operational burden of running global, reliable WebSocket/realtime infrastructure (routing, fanout, reconnection, ordering guarantees, scaling, etc.) while exposing primitives for building interactive experiences (chat, notifications, live dashboards, collaboration, and similar use cases).
Ably uses a tagline that indicates emphasis on operational reliability, global edge presence, and predictable performance at scale. The vendor offers additional products on top of its underlying pub/sub network (for example, Chat, Spaces, LiveObjects/LiveSync/AI Transport). Vendor metrics in this report are treated as self-reported unless independently validated.
