Interpretation: There is an inconsistency across AWS pages. Buyers should treat AWS support communications and official account-level notices as authoritative. The mismatch is a practical documentation risk.

AWS launch and blogs (vendor/customer statements; vendor-authored):
Amazon Lookout for Metrics (L4M) was an AWS-managed machine-learning service for detecting anomalies in time-series business or operational metrics (for example revenue, transactions, conversion rates, signups) and for assisting users in triaging likely contributors/root causes. It connected to AWS data sources (S3, Redshift, RDS, CloudWatch) and some SaaS sources (typically via AppFlow), built an ML detector, grouped related anomalies into events, ranked them by severity, and pushed alerts to notification/action channels (SNS, Lambda, webhooks and third-party tools).
Important lifecycle note (material to any buying decision): AWS ended new customer sign-ups and fully discontinued the service. AWS publicly announced end of support effective October 10, 2025, with resources deleted and APIs no longer working after that date. (However, some AWS API reference pages have shown a different date—see “Known Issues & Limitations” for date inconsistency.)
Implication: As of March 12, 2026, Lookout for Metrics should be treated as a legacy/discontinued offering; the relevant product decisions are primarily migration and replacement options (CloudWatch Anomaly Detection, OpenSearch, QuickSight, Redshift ML, AWS Glue Data Quality, or third-party observability platforms).
