AWS Elastic Beanstalk (EB) is an AWS-managed application deployment and orchestration service that automates provisioning and management of common infrastructure for web applications and worker processes. EB provisions and operates underlying resources in a customer's AWS account—typically EC2 instances, an Auto Scaling Group, an Elastic Load Balancer, CloudWatch monitoring, and related IAM/S3/SNS configuration—based on a selected platform (language/runtime) or Docker configuration. A developer uploads application code or an artifact, and EB manages environment creation, deployment, scaling policies, and health monitoring. Official documentation emphasizes that users retain control of, and are billed for, the underlying AWS resources.
EB supports runtimes including Go, Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Docker-based deployments. It also supports worker environments (SQS-driven background processing) in addition to web environments.
