Avoid Azure Language in Foundry Tools when:
1. Organizations require maximum simplicity and minimal Azure platform dependencies; smaller teams may deploy faster using Google Cloud Natural Language, AWS Comprehend, or a single LLM provider.
2. The intended architecture depends on preview Foundry integrations (MCP server / routing agents); preview status can be a governance blocker.
3. Transparent, consolidated billing across mixed model sources is a requirement; Foundry’s marketplace model and mixed billing approaches have produced billing visibility challenges for some organizations.
4. The primary requirement is generative chat or creative text generation; those use cases may be met more directly by Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Cohere, or similar LLM providers.
5. Specialized domain NLP needs extensive domain validation (for example, specific clinical coding beyond Text Analytics for Health); in such cases, specialized vendors or custom model programs may be more appropriate.
