1) Cost-sensitive workloads with low utilization
- When hosts cannot be packed efficiently, paying per host-hour can be materially worse than shared tenancy.
2) Small teams or limited cloud expertise
- Organizations without strong cost controls and governance may find Azure complexity (billing, quotas, operations) overwhelming.
3) When the primary requirement is simple dedicated hardware at a flat rate
- Some organizations are better served by traditional dedicated servers or managed hosting to avoid variable egress and cloud billing complexity.
4) When live-migration behavior for host maintenance is required
- Azure documentation indicates Dedicated Hosts do not support live migration; if operations depend on live migration, consider other options and validate current vendor roadmaps and alternatives.
5) When bare-metal access is required
- Dedicated Host provides dedicated hardware for running Azure VMs; if direct bare-metal access is required, a different Azure offering or provider may be necessary.
