Commonware is an open-source library of primitives (described by the project as an "anti-framework") for building custom, high-performance blockchain and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications. Rather than shipping a full-stack blockchain SDK with strong opinions about architecture, Commonware provides modular building blocks for areas such as networking, consensus, storage/authenticated data structures, and simulation/testing infrastructure, intended to be composed into bespoke systems.
Commonware also maintains reference/example applications (notably Alto) used to benchmark and iterate on performance and resource usage claims, and ships tooling such as deployer to move from local demos to multi-region cloud benchmarking and deployments.
