1) End-to-end S2P requirements
If a project requires requisitioning, catalogs, invoicing/AP automation, expenses, and payments within a single platform, consider a full S2P suite rather than a sourcing-focused tool.
2) Need for publicly documented compliance certifications before engagement
If procurement policy requires publicly posted SOC 2 or ISO certificates prior to vendor engagement, the vendor’s public documentation (as reviewed) may not meet that requirement; request certification evidence under NDA if necessary.
3) Heavy integration requirements with limited services budget
The vendor lists custom integrations as an add-on; complex ERP/CLM integrations can require paid professional services and longer delivery timelines.
4) Core dependence on established supplier networks
If supplier connectivity on an established marketplace/network is the primary value driver, suite vendors with extensive network effects may be preferable.
