01Common complaints

Fireflies.ai (meeting tool)

- Organizations that require default privacy controls that prevent accidental recordings and distribution and that cannot tolerate the risk of misconfigured integrations. - Organizations that cannot accommodate usage-based add-ons (AI Credits) or require fully predictable, all-inclusive pricing models. - Organizations that require consistently high-touch support with guaranteed SLAs but are not on a plan that provides those services. - Organizations that prefer meeting workflows without a bot joining live meetings; some reviewers reported difficulty managing bot presence during calls.

Firefly (cloud automation)

Organizations that already have mature IaC coverage (Terraform, Pulumi) and drift detection/recovery processes; ROI depends on gaps in codification and operational maturity.
Organizations requiring extensive public third-party reviews and transparent pricing; public review footprints for firefly.ai are currently smaller than for meeting-focused products.

From reviews

The bot joining meetings can be slow, which may cause the start of a meeting to be missed.
Support responsiveness is variable according to multiple reviewer reports.
Billing and plan-limit friction, including perceived add-on layers, is a recurring complaint.

From vendor documentation

Some AI features require AI Credits as an add-on even for Business-tier customers.
Consent and recording behavior vary by meeting platform and require configuration and user training.

Where it struggles

Meetings that require strict consent controls and participant understanding; misconfiguration can create organizational risk.
Organizations that require on-premises or offline-only solutions (no clear evidence of an on-prem offering in captured sources).

02Why they buy

Fireflies.ai

Broad integration coverage and configurable workflow automation capabilities are commonly cited in product and third-party content.
High review volume on some platforms, with reviewers frequently citing time savings and transcript utility.

Areas where competitors may have advantages

Microsoft 365 Copilot: close integration across Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Teams for organizations standardized on Microsoft 365.
Fathom: accessible free tier for individuals and a streamlined meeting experience for lighter workloads.
Otter: established transcription tooling with a mature product history.

03Field reports

> Scope note: Most review content available is for **Fireflies.ai (fireflies.ai)** rather than **Firefly (firefly.ai)**. - The vendor publishes case studies and marketing materials; this research did not capture multiple detailed, third-party-validated case studies with independently audited ROI metrics. - Vendor-published accuracy claims (for example, transcription accuracy percentages) and productivity impact statements should be validated against independent benchmarks, including test sets, noise conditions, language mixes, and diarization methodology. Methodology gaps to note: - Accuracy percentages are often presented without information about data sets, speaker counts, noise profiles, or evaluation methodology. - Productivity claims are frequently unquantified or lack details about baseline vs post-adoption measurement methods.

Review platforms (examples with representative reviewer comments)

**G2 (positive reviewer comments)** - One reviewer reported that the app joins calls, transcribes conversations with relatively high accuracy, and generates action items and summaries. - Another reviewer indicated the transcription and summarization capabilities are sufficiently accurate to be useful for meeting records and speaker metrics. **G2 (negative / mixed reviewer comments)** - Multiple reviewers reported dissatisfaction with support responsiveness, with some stating support did not resolve issues and they chose alternate products. - Some reviewers described the integration with popular meeting platforms as intrusive, noting difficulty removing the bot during live meetings. **TrustRadius (mixed)** - Pros noted: automated note-taking, summary generation, and follow-up assistance. - Cons noted: occasional slowness at meeting start resulting in missed content, limitations on sending recaps to non-users, and limited built-in analytics. **Trustpilot (negative / risk-oriented reports)** - Reports described losing access to playback and transcripts after account changes, creating difficulty in reviewing recordings before deciding on deletions. - Other entries described billing and account access issues following email/account transitions. - Additional entries raised concerns about calendar integration and unintentional recordings in contexts where confidentiality is required.

Common reasons reviewers report selecting the product

Reduction in time spent taking notes and improved recall through a searchable meeting archive; perceived transcription accuracy and integrations with CRMs and productivity tools are frequently cited as selection drivers.

Common reasons for churn reported by reviewers

Support responsiveness and resolution quality.
Confusion or dissatisfaction with pricing structure, limits, and add-on charges.
Concerns about bot behavior when joining meetings and related consent/privacy friction.

04Best fit

For Fireflies.ai (meeting notetaker)

- Company size: Suitable for organizations from small teams through large enterprises, particularly teams with high meeting volume (sales, customer success, recruiting, product). - Industries: SaaS, professional services, recruiting/staffing, customer support; education appears in some reviews but requires heightened privacy controls. - Roles: Sales leaders, customer success managers, recruiters, product managers, and IT/security stakeholders responsible for SSO/SCIM and retention controls. - Appropriate when: - Meeting capture and a searchable knowledge base materially support business processes. - Integrations to CRM and project tools are a priority. - The organization is prepared to implement consent and recording policies. - Poor fit when: - Meetings are in highly regulated domains (education, health, legal) without strong governance and training. - The organization requires strictly usage-included pricing without metered AI add-ons.

For Firefly (firefly.ai)

Company size: Mid-market to enterprise operating in AWS-heavy or multi-cloud environments.
Roles: Platform engineering, SRE, cloud security, and compliance teams.
Appropriate when:
- Continuous discovery and codification into IaC, auditability, and recovery readiness are business priorities.

05The pitch

What the product does (core functionality)
