01Competitive Landscape

Because Fortinet’s generative AI and AIOps functionality spans both network operations and security operations, this comparison emphasizes network operations and AIOps-adjacent options.

Narrative analysis

- Fortinet advantage: In Fortinet-centric environments, FortiAIOps can leverage native telemetry to provide baselining and diagnostics without extensive vendor stitching. - Competitors may be preferable when: - Multi-vendor, internet/SaaS path visibility is a priority (Cisco ThousandEyes) - Organizations standardize on a different security platform and want cohesive ops automation within that ecosystem (Palo Alto Networks) - AI-first wireless and campus experiences are the primary requirement (Juniper Mist is often cited by practitioners in this space)

Customer evidence comparing vendors

Community comparisons suggest that Fortinet provides functional value for many customers but that software quality concerns are a recurring theme. Some anecdotal commentary indicates that competing vendors’ AI-driven analysis is perceived as stronger in specific contexts; these anecdotes are not substitutes for a controlled evaluation.

Fortinet FortiAIOps / FortiAI-Assist	Palo Alto Networks (AIOps for NGFW)	Cisco ThousandEyes
Starting Price	Not publicly listed; typically quote-based via channel partners	Licensing and packaging have changed over time; availability varies by license tier	Subscription-based; tiered pricing based on scale and visibility needs
Most appropriate for	Organizations standardized on Fortinet running SD-WAN, LAN/WLAN and Security Fabric that want Day-2 operations automation	Enterprises with Palo Alto firewall estates desiring lifecycle and posture insights for NGFWs	Organizations needing internet/WAN/application experience visibility across networks and providers, often in multi-vendor environments
Key Strength	Tight integration across Fortinet Fabric telemetry; generative AI embedded in-tool; adjacency between SD-WAN and security tooling	NGFW-focused posture workflows and lifecycle visibility for Palo Alto estates	External internet visibility and path analytics; useful for diagnosing provider vs application issues
Key Weakness	Dependence on Fortinet ecosystem; community-reported software QA/bug concerns	Packaging and licensing changes; potential higher cost; focused on Palo Alto estates	Can be costly at scale; typically most valuable in larger deployments; not a firewall or full SecOps platform
