- Cloud Bigtable (branded as Bigtable on Google Cloud) is a managed wide-column / key-value NoSQL database optimized for high-throughput, low-latency access to very large datasets. It is designed for workloads that are primarily single-row-key access patterns plus scans over row-key ranges, and it integrates with Google’s analytics and streaming ecosystem (Dataflow, BigQuery, etc.).
- Vendor guidance positions Bigtable for use cases such as machine learning feature stores, operational analytics, time-series/IoT, clickstream and user event analytics, and high-scale serving. Documentation notes it is generally more appropriate for larger workloads and may be less appropriate for small applications (which may be served by Firestore instead).
