IBM Cloud Sync is a managed SaaS service that continuously synchronizes DNS zone, record, and traffic-steering policy data between DNS providers (initially IBM NS1 Connect and Amazon Route 53) using API-based translation rather than XFR-style zone transfers.

IBM documents a support lifecycle entry for "IBM Cloud Sync_SaaS" (PID 5900-BIJ) that frames the service in IBM’s SaaS support model.
Competitors may offer advantages such as a unified platform model (Cloudflare/Akamai) that reduces multi-provider coordination costs.
Cloud Sync was generally unavailable for broad public review at launch and had limited third-party review coverage specifically for Cloud Sync itself as of the sources accessed. This section therefore draws from NS1 Connect reviews (a closely related product) and IBM Cloud platform feedback as proxy signals.
Cloud Sync itself does not appear to have a dedicated Gartner Peer Insights page in accessible sources. Gartner Peer Insights contains reviews for IBM Cloud (platform) that reference hybrid connectivity and support experiences; these are platform-level signals rather than Cloud Sync-specific reviews.
PeerSpot provides market mindshare and user review summaries for IBM NS1 Connect; these are context signals rather than Cloud Sync-specific evaluations.
Platform-level reviews for IBM Cloud and community threads (e.g., Reddit) provide vendor experience signals that are relevant to procurement (support access, billing friction). Community threads contain anecdotal reports about IBM Cloud support and billing that should be validated for relevance to Cloud Sync procurement and support arrangements.
Motivations for selecting Cloud Sync may include:
Some third-party analysis exists around NS1 Connect’s DNS-based GSLB and traffic steering. These materials provide context but are not direct proof points for Cloud Sync’s operational behavior.
Best fit tends to be:
Suitable verticals include SaaS, e-commerce, fintech, media/streaming, global B2B platforms, and regulated industries pursuing multi-vendor resilience strategies (compliance evidence should be validated during procurement).

Interpretation: if a Cloud Sync deployment depends on NS1 Connect expertise, NS1 Connect’s UI and learning curve may be relevant to adoption risk.
Possible reasons for customers to discontinue use include:
No detailed, third-party-validated Cloud Sync case studies were found in accessible sources. IBM provided a vendor GA announcement describing market problem statements and claimed benefits, including references to industry research; methodology and applicability of vendor-cited statistics were not independently validated in the sources accessed.
Buyers should request reference customers, architecture diagrams, failure-mode tests (provider outage simulations), and RTO/RPO outcomes for DNS restoration workflows during procurement.
IBM Cloud Sync is a managed SaaS offering intended to keep authoritative DNS configurations synchronized across DNS providers, focusing (at launch) on IBM NS1 Connect ↔ Amazon Route 53. It synchronizes zone and record data as well as traffic-steering metadata and routing policies, using API-based translation rather than traditional DNS zone transfers (AXFR/IXFR), which Route 53 does not support.
Key IBM-stated benefits include:
Official product overview and feature pages
The product is positioned for enterprise and multi-cloud network and platform teams operating across AWS and IBM NS1 Connect (and potentially other providers later), who need:
IBM describes the product as a bridge and an orchestration layer for multi-cloud DNS, especially where XFR is not available (notably Route 53).
