IBM marketing pages include "new functions available" notices, but detailed public roadmap commitments and dates were not available in the sources reviewed.
Public sources do not list explicit scale limits for IMS Problem Investigator; practical scale considerations are driven by the volume of logs/journals, retention windows, and analyst workflow performance in the environment.
Direct community discussions specifically about IMS Problem Investigator were scarce in accessible Reddit/Hacker News searches; most results were general mainframe/IMS career or licensing discussions rather than product reviews.
Most direct public statements available in accessible sources are vendor documentation or product pages rather than independent user reviews. IBM’s product documentation describes IMS Problem Investigator as a log analysis tool intended to support problem determination and to provide detailed views into IMS event flows.
In the accessible sources reviewed, product-specific public case studies with independently verified, quantified ROI (for example, claims of reduced mean time to repair) were not found for IMS Problem Investigator.
IBM marketing materials provide qualitative benefit statements (reduced diagnostic time, improved productivity), but they do not provide independently verified methodologies or customer-audited metrics in the public domain.

Virtual IMS user group presentations and partner materials describe a tooling stack in which IMS Performance Analyzer provides batch reporting, IMS Problem Investigator provides deep-dive log analysis, and IMS Connect Extensions provides operational inputs.
Critical evaluation:
IBM IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS is a log and trace analysis tool for IBM IMS environments (IMS Database and IMS Transaction Manager) running on z/OS. Its core purpose is to assist problem determination by correlating and formatting IMS log and trace data so specialists can follow transaction flow end-to-end and identify failure points, latency sources, database update activity, and response codes. IBM positions it as an investigation tool intended to diagnose historical operational events within IMS rather than as a real-time monitoring product.
