IBM IMS Queue Control Facility for z/OS (QCF) is an IMS message-queue management tool for monitoring, querying, browsing, unloading/loading, reprocessing, and recovering IMS messages on live IMS message queues, supporting both nonshared (local) queues and shared queues environments (Coupling Facility structures such as MSGQ). It is described as an operations and recovery utility intended to reduce outages and operational effort related to queue overflows, cold/warm starts, and aged or stuck messages.
Documented capabilities include:
- Queue overflow protection via monitoring, thresholds, alerts, and configurable automated actions.
- Message requeue and replay from logs/queues and recovery datasets (including shared queue structures via CQS SRDS in some cases).
- Queue maintenance (identifying and removing messages that are no longer required) to reduce performance degradation and buffer shortages.
- An interactive TSO/ISPF client for operations and administrative workflows.
