01Competitive Landscape

Narrative competitive analysis

ISPF vs Zowe/VS Code: Zowe and VS Code extensions provide modern interfaces (web UI, CLI, REST APIs) and can improve developer experience. Many organizations adopt these tools to improve onboarding, but ISPF often remains in use because existing macros and workflows are entrenched.
ISPF vs commercial workbenches: Commercial offerings can provide richer UX, DevOps integration, testing, and governance. They may be expensive and complex to deploy, and they frequently retain 3270/ISPF compatibility for legacy workflows.
