Public and vendor documentation and community input indicate strengths such as deep subsystem context (IMS-specific views, response time analysis, lock conflict visibility, shared queues, coupling facility statistics) and plex-wide operational views via enhanced 3270 UI workspaces (for example, an Enterprise IMSplex Summary workspace).
Organizations often select IBM-native monitoring for alignment with IBM Z/IMS operational models and vendor support. Standardization on a single monitoring family across z/OS subsystems is a common selection criterion.
No detailed, independently validated public case study focused specifically on OMEGAMON for IMS on z/OS with quantified ROI metrics was identified in the sources reviewed.
Vendor events and community sessions reference operational topics such as reducing OMEGAMON CPU consumption, indicating that CPU overhead management is an operational concern; these are informative but not a substitute for independent case studies with methodology and metrics.
Vendor-authored materials and event content are useful for implementation guidance but should not be treated as independent proof of ROI without disclosure of baseline, measurement methodology, and verification.
