1. Cross-platform IaC governance is the primary organizational standard
- If the organizational standard is to use a single orchestrator (for example, Ansible Automation Platform) for all provisioning, z/OS PT may be redundant unless it integrates cleanly into existing pipelines.
2. The organization is not committed to z/OSMF
- If z/OSMF adoption is weak or there is organizational resistance to z/OSMF, adoption of z/OS PT is likely to be difficult because of the dependency on z/OSMF workflows.
3. Requirement for richer lifecycle management than simple provision/deprovision
- If the requirement set includes drift detection, detailed state management, or policy-as-code comparable to modern IaC platforms, z/OS PT may not meet those needs.
4. Need for extensive custom workflows and frequent changes
- IBM documentation indicates upgrades are simpler when supplied templates are not heavily modified. Significant customization may increase long-term maintenance burden.
