OpenPhone may be a poor choice when:
1. Mission-critical call quality is non-negotiable: multiple reports cite choppy audio, dropped calls, and one-way audio.
2. Live phone support or strict SLAs are required: community feedback repeatedly mentions absence of a support phone line and slow ticket resolution.
3. SMS programs are revenue-critical and time-sensitive: A2P 10DLC and toll-free verification issues can block outbound texting; some users describe long delays.
4. Extensive integrations are required out of the box: larger providers (e.g., RingCentral) offer a broader set of integrations.
5. The organization plans to build a contact center: If advanced features such as power dialers, advanced analytics, coaching/QA, or omnichannel routing are required, consider Aircall, RingCentral RingCX, or dedicated CCaaS platforms.
