01Common complaints

1) If primary requirements are contact prospecting and contact export capabilities - Practitioner feedback indicates contact export and prospect-level depth may be limited compared with specialist prospecting vendors. Consider ZoomInfo, Clearbit, or similar providers for high-volume outbound workflows. 2) If you require transparent, self-serve pricing and rapid self-service onboarding - Pricing appears to be quote-based and may require a sales engagement; organizations seeking published SMB pricing and instant procurement may prefer alternatives. 3) If your Salesforce implementation requires extensive prefilled-search or UI workflow customizations out of the box - Community discussions suggest some prefill/customization capabilities may be limited and could require custom development. 4) If procurement requires publicly available, product-scoped compliance documentation without an NDA - Product-level security and compliance documents for Optimizer were not clearly published; procurement teams should clarify documentation availability during the vendor evaluation process.

Deal disqualifiers

Primary need for deep contact prospecting and contact exports.
Requirement for publicly documented product-specific security certifications without engaging vendor security review under NDA.

Product transitions and roadmap signals

Dun & Bradstreet materials reference D&B Connect for Salesforce as a more recent option; this may indicate an ongoing product portfolio evolution that buyers should clarify with the vendor.

Community-reported issues

Potential limitations around passing values into pre-insert search fields in some use cases; workarounds or custom development may be required.
Confusion in community threads between D&B Optimizer and Salesforce’s own "Salesforce Optimizer" tooling can complicate research; evaluators should verify package names and documentation.

Data limitations (typical for enrichment providers)

Corporate family linkage and duplicate records can present practical challenges in real-world datasets; buyers should conduct pilots to validate match accuracy and hierarchy resolution in their datasets.

02Why they buy

Unique selling points supported by evidence

D-U-N-S Number–based entity identity and corporate family linkage that can be used to standardize CRM records and roll up corporate hierarchies.
Salesforce integration for record matching, enrichment, and stewardship workflows.
Vendor-published case metrics indicating substantial match-rate improvements for at least one customer, subject to the limitations noted in the case study evaluation.

Competitor advantages

Specialist prospecting and contact enrichment providers may offer deeper contact coverage and outbound-focused workflows.
Dedicated Salesforce tooling vendors may provide more explicit admin-focused features and transparent SMB pricing.

03Field reports

Review platforms: what customers note

Direct reviews specifically labeled "D&B Optimizer" are limited compared to other D&B products. This section synthesizes vendor case stories, TrustRadius entries, Salesforce community posts, and adjacent D&B product reviews to identify recurring themes. Positive (vendor case story): - A D&B case story claims a substantial improvement in record matching to D-U-N-S identifiers, with a majority of matches assessed as higher-confidence and the vendor reporting avoidance of manual research on a large number of records. These figures are vendor-published and the underlying methodology and customer identity are not disclosed. Positive (community): - A Salesforce community member reported: "It does a decent job at cleaning up basic information on the accounts." This is practitioner-level feedback and reflects a limited-scope expectation for account-level cleanup.

What customers criticize / complain about

Community and adjacent-product feedback surface several recurring concerns: - Data freshness and update cadence: reviewers of related D&B products have reported data becoming out of date or updates being delayed. - Duplicate records and complex corporate hierarchies: reviews of related D&B offerings indicate challenges locating information when duplicate or shell company records exist. - Support and user experience: some reviewers of related products have reported poor login or support experiences; while these comments are not specific to Optimizer, they are relevant as part of the broader D&B product ecosystem.

Why customers choose it over alternatives

Buyers frequently select D&B Optimizer when they require D-U-N-S-based entity identity and corporate linkage for CRM record standardization, along with a Salesforce integration that supports stewardship workflows.

Churn drivers / reasons customers leave

Direct churn case studies for Optimizer were not found. Likely drivers based on patterns across similar products include:

Limited contact data depth compared with specialist prospecting tools
Frustration with match quality or duplicate corporate entities
Pricing concerns if costs scale with record volume or seat counts without clear ROI

D&B-published customer story (anonymous insurance company)

Claimed outcomes: - Vendor-reported improvement in match rates to D-U-N-S identifiers, with a majority of matches characterized as higher-confidence. - Vendor-reported reduction in manual research requirements for a substantial set of records. - Deduplication and merge activities reported to complete in hours rather than multiple days. - The customer-provided onboarding satisfaction metric was presented subjectively. Critical evaluation / limitations: - The customer is unnamed and the methodology for deriving match rates is not disclosed, which limits independent verification and generalizability. - Reported timelines and efficiencies may depend heavily on baseline data quality, the scope of records processed, and the resources assigned to the project.
