Perforce IPLM (formerly Methodics IPLM, later branded Helix IPLM) is an enterprise IP lifecycle management platform for semiconductor organizations. It centralizes an IP catalog of reusable design blocks and captures and versions IP metadata and dependencies across projects to support traceability, controlled release processes, and reproducible SoC integration workspaces. Perforce describes IPLM as complementary to (not a replacement for) file-level data management (DM) tools such as Perforce P4 (Helix Core), Git, and Subversion.
Documented capabilities in vendor materials include:
- An enterprise IP catalog with search/filtering, permissions, and traceability across usage, bugs, derivatives, and regressions.
- A hierarchical, versioned bill of materials (BoM) spanning hardware, software, and platform dependencies.
- Automated IP release flows with pre/post hooks, triggers, and configurable quality/maturity gates.
- Workspace creation and acceleration via caching and distribution; vendor materials include examples of significant speed improvements for workspace assembly, though baseline conditions and methodology are not public.
- Integrations with Perforce P4 and optional Git tooling; integration to Jira via an add-on.
