01Common complaints

- Organisations outside Australia and New Zealand - The vendor ecosystem and documented references are heavily AU/NZ-specific; organisations outside these regions may find other vendors with stronger local support, integrations, and reference customers. - Organisations that need enterprise-grade compliance documentation upfront - Public sources reviewed did not contain explicit SOC 2 or ISO 27001 attestations or detailed security whitepapers; procurement teams requiring these documents should request them directly from the vendor. - Organisations that require abundant independent peer reviews for procurement risk mitigation - Independent review coverage for Sportsground/Sporty on mainstream global B2B review platforms appears limited or is difficult to validate based on the sources reviewed. - Organisations that require fully transparent, self-serve pricing immediately - Sportsground.com vendor materials did not publish clear tiered pricing; organisations requiring immediate price points may prefer vendors that publish detailed pricing or calculators. - Publicly observable limitations / gaps - Security/compliance transparency - Public documentation of security certifications and compliance attestations was not found in the accessible sources. - Review discoverability and name collisions - The product name overlaps with common venue terminology ("sportsground"), which makes online review discovery noisy and can surface irrelevant content. - The G2 listing reviewed appears to contain mismatched review content, raising data-quality concerns for that platform’s listing. - Pricing transparency - Sportsground.com-specific pricing details were not obviously published on the vendor page provided. - Vendor-acknowledged constraints (in accessible sources) - Usage limits on free plans - Sporty’s pricing materials reference "fair use limits" on free plans, which can necessitate upgrades to paid plans for higher usage levels. - Support access constraints - Sporty support materials reference PIN-required phone support for subscribing clients and different support arrangements for free users.

Deal disqualifiers (poor fit)

Organisations that require published security certifications (SOC 2/ISO 27001) and detailed compliance documentation as part of procurement.
Organisations that require North American-specific ecosystem features (for example, recruiting networks, specific fundraising integrations, or US-focused payment rails) or extensive independent review coverage in their region.

02Why they buy

- Key differentiators (as supported by available materials) - Documented presence in New Zealand organised sport workflows - Vendor documentation describes "SuperForms" as a method for registering participants into national databases for several sports in New Zealand. - The NZ Football partnership announcement supports selection for national-scale administration. - Broad module footprint - Vendor materials and Sporty getting-started documentation show a set of modules covering websites, registrations, payments, CRM/member management, competition management, live scoring, appointments, and licensing. - Claims that require caution or verification - Vendor marketing includes statements about very large annual user counts and platform prominence; these are vendor claims and should be validated during procurement. - PCI compliance is asserted for the payments offering on the vendor page; procurement teams should request third-party attestations or audit reports for verification. - Areas where competitors may have clearer advantages - Global review visibility, standardised enterprise compliance disclosures, and (in some markets) more modern UX and integration ecosystems.

03Field reports

Important note on review-source ambiguity

Searching for "Sportsground" often returns results about physical venues (for example, sportsgrounds/stadiums), which introduces noise. Many forum results were unrelated to the software product and were excluded as non-representative for product evaluation.

G2 reviews (sports management software vendor listing)

G2 lists a Sportsground seller page that references SKED with a small number of reviews. The visible review text on that page appears mismatched to sports scheduling, suggesting either a categorization/data-quality issue on G2 or a product-name collision. These reviews were not considered reliable evidence of product performance for sports scheduling.

TrustRadius

A distinct TrustRadius product page for Sportsground/Sporty/SKED was not identified in the captured search results.

Gartner Peer Insights

No accessible Sportsground-specific review listing was identified on Gartner Peer Insights in the captured sources.

Community references and partner announcements

- New Zealand Football partnership announcement - New Zealand Football announced a partnership with Sportsground Ltd / Sporty to deliver a national player registration and competition management system, referencing a large number of players. This is a partner announcement and indicates adoption at a national governing-body level, though it is not an independent user review with quantitative operational KPIs. - Netball-related documents - A Netball NZ–associated newsletter references affiliated centres having access to a free website from Sportsground and encourages upgrade to Sporty, supporting historical deployment in some NZ netball contexts. - Club references - A club website (Cashmere Football Club) states that Sporty is the official upgrade path from Sportsground, indicating a product transition narrative.

Direct quotes and limitations

Due to limited, clearly attributable end-user reviews in accessible sources (and the G2 content mismatch), this report does not provide high-confidence, attributable star-rating quotes for Sportsground itself.

NZ Football partnership (quasi-case)

- Claimed scope - New Zealand Football states Sporty (Sportsground Ltd) will deliver a national player registration and competition management system for a large, national-scale player base. - Critical evaluation - This announcement is a partner statement, not an independent case study with measurable KPIs such as conversion rates, administrative time savings, or support ticket reduction. It does indicate selection for a national-scale use case.

MotorSport NZ platform upgrade reference

- Summary - MotorSport New Zealand selected Sporty (Sportsground Ltd) to upgrade its platform and provide digital licences; the documentation frames the supplier and characterises the platform’s scale in local promotional materials. - Critical evaluation - The source is ecosystem documentation and contains promotional characterisations. It is not an independent benchmark study and does not provide quantified operational outcomes.
