1) You need an eProcurement or source-to-pay platform
Mercatus functions as a legal and procurement-law knowledge base with templates and research; it does not provide end-to-end eProcurement workflow automation.
2) You require clearly documented, product-specific security attestations (for example, SOC 2 Type II explicitly scoped to the product)
If procurement requires explicit, product-scoped SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certificates and Mercatus cannot provide them during evaluation, consider vendors with a public trust center or product-scoped attestations.
3) Your procurement process is highly sensitive to vendor billing and support reputation
Vendor-wide complaints about billing, cancellations, and support responsiveness have been reported for Wolters Kluwer product lines. If your contracting process cannot mitigate these risks through contract terms, consider alternatives or require stronger contractual guarantees (SLAs, named contacts, penalty clauses).
4) You do not operate in Belgium or do not require Belgian procurement-law specialization
Mercatus availability and content are marketed for Belgium (Dutch/French). Organizations outside this jurisdiction or those needing other national law coverage should evaluate broader or local providers.
