1. New deployments in 2026
- CIS 10.2.3 reaches end of support on April 30, 2026 and was withdrawn from market on September 20, 2024. Selecting it now is generally unjustifiable unless there is a documented, short transition path.
2. When modern data integration coverage is required
- If an organization requires broad SaaS connectors, change-data-capture at scale, event streaming, or cloud-native orchestration and observability, CIS does not provide that coverage.
3. When auditable vendor compliance attestations are required
- CIS-specific SOC 2 or ISO documentation is not prominently published; organizations needing vendor-provided compliance reports should prioritize vendors with transparent compliance portals.
4. When low-administration managed operations are a requirement
- CIS is an on-premises component that requires connection management, selection definitions, and a logging database to operate; it is not a managed SaaS offering.
