Synopsys Virtualizer Models are transaction-level models (TLMs)—primarily SystemC TLM-2.0–based virtual components (processors, interconnects, peripherals, and interface IP models) used as building blocks to assemble virtual prototypes and Virtualizer Development Kits (VDKs). The practical purpose is to enable pre-silicon software development, debug, integration testing, and some classes of system validation before RTL and/or physical hardware are available.
Virtualizer Models are typically consumed inside the Synopsys Virtualizer tooling ecosystem (Virtualizer Studio, VDK packaging/distribution, hybrid prototyping with third-party emulation/FPGA prototyping solutions, etc.). Synopsys describes the models as validated and performance-oriented and integrates them into VDKs with the stated goal of reducing model creation effort and supporting earlier software development workflows.
